I was about eleven years old when the twenty-sixth amendment to the Constitution was ratified lowering the voting age from twenty-one to eighteen. I thought that was cool as it made the wait for me less.
However, the drinking age in some states was eighteen and I believe most have been moved up to twenty-one(?) Yet voting and drinking are a one and done, meaning you can always quit, or vote differently. A 'gender transition' is a life long choice; yes, choice. I'm sorry, but the science proves that either you have tow 'Y' chromosomes, or one 'Y' and one 'X' chromosome. To keep it family friendly, the former group is born with and 'inny', and the latter is born with an 'outty'.
" Early transgender surgeries and hormone treatments have been labeled as “crucial” for the health of kids and teenagers who identify as transgender and nonbinary, according to a message from the Biden administration and relayed by the Daily Wire. "

"Senate Bill 5599, sponsored by Sen. Marko Liias, will allow certified shelters to contact the Department of Children, Youth and Families instead of parents, for children seeking reproductive health services or gender-affirming care.
"Many argue that this bill could lead to abuse and exploitation of minors, as it creates a potential avenue for predators to take advantage of vulnerable children who may be seeking shelter or medical services. This could also have long-term consequences on the mental and physical health of children who may not have the maturity or capacity to make informed decisions about their healthcare.
"Others have also pointed out that the government should not be involved in providing gender-affirming care to minors, and that such decisions should be left to parents and medical professionals."
Planned Parenthood says: "Gender transition is different for each person. There aren’t any specific steps required for someone to transition — it’s all about what feels right for you. It’s sort of like a buffet, where you can try everything, a few things, or nothing at all. Also, you may not want or have access to some kinds of transition. "
What do I need to know about transitioning?
Seattle Children's Hospital has a special clinic for 'transitioning'. I did see that they do (at this time) require parental consent for minors: " We accept new patients ages 9 to 16, who have already started puberty. Patients ages 17 and older and patients who have not yet started puberty will be directed to community resources. Our clinic primarily provides gender-affirming medical care (such as puberty blockers and gender-affirming hormones). Gender-affirming medical care for patients under age 18 requires consent from any parent or guardian that has medical decision-making rights for that patient, unless the patient is an emancipated minor."
