We sometimes wonder what the heck are they thinking when watching what happens in Washington D.C. and the other various seats of 'power' around our world, don't we?
A week or so ago I re-read the book of Daniel. You know, that book in the Bible about that prophet dude? Many folks look to Daniel when trying to figure out end times prophecies. There is also a recurring theme in Daniel as well, one that crossed my mind a night or two ago. The various kings he served under would from time to time have need for advice from his 'experts'. Most every time, those 'experts' either didn't have the answer or had the wrong one. I am sure you have also seen or read many other stories about various advisors to government leaders acting as if they really knew their answer but were instead just making it up. Many times the answer may be something like 'we need to look into that further', or 'I'll have to get back to you about that'. Lately it is "I'll have to circle back around to that", hehe.
In Daniel, there were times when the king's 'experts' tried to get Daniel silenced and/or in trouble - even to the point of getting Daniel put to death; but that part is another story. Are you starting to see a pattern yet? Now, in our world, we have 'experts' consulting the 'kings' with their advice. Advice they claim to be an expert about. Well some times. Just like the Chaldeans with Nebukanzer. When the advice changes, it is as if the former advice was never given at all. Yet we keep relying on these 'experts' more and more.
Solomon was right when he said, "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." In Romans, "All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
At least we do still have a few Daniels in our midst. Keep being a Daniel and encourage others to do so as well.
God bless
