About Racism

I remember back in the late seventies when me and my friends would get together and party.  There were blacks, whites, mexicans, and Indians.  We all thought that racism was stupid, especially after passing around a few.

During the eighties and nineties and even early 2000's, racism was pretty much more and more leaving mainstream America.  You would hear less and less folks using the "n" word, unless it was a black person of course.  But then we elected Barack Obama, a black man, and I thought the country had finally healed itself of the scar of racism.  I was totally wrong.  Obama brought it back.  And here we are now.

The concept of judging one by their skin color didn't come around until around the 1300's in Muslum countries. The Bible nor the Quran mention anything much about skin color, and especially nothing at all about any superiority or inferiority in relation to skin color.  My sister for the longest time has always answered on forms that ask for her race, she checks "other" and writes in "Human".  That one makes the most sense.  Because 'race' is a human construct, not based in science even though the eugenics movement tried to make it so.

I figure it like this.  Dogs, cats, horses, cows, every species has some differences in them.  Differences in coloration, size, etc.  In dogs and cats, we call them breeds.  I think that is best for humans too.
