I wish this was part of a novel, like 1984 or something. It's not. While accusing President Trump of election interference since he won in 2016, it actually has been and continues to be the Democrats.
With I'm sure just enough Republicans mixed in to attempt to give it a semblance of validity. Kind of like the 'republicans' that Katie Hobbs used in her fear tactic (s)election commercials she posted from her safe space.
But this folks, goes way beyond. President Trump has never been charged with any crime of insurrection, yet some states are using that part of the fourteenth amendment to try and keep his name off the ballot.
- Activists are suing Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to prevent Trump's name from appearing on the state's presidential ballots, while attorneys for Trump are demanding that his name be included.
- Two separate lawsuits argue that Trump's candidacy should be disqualified under the 14th Amendment's prohibition against holding office for those who engaged in insurrection. A similar lawsuit in Minnesota was dismissed by the state's Supreme Court.
- Despite the ongoing legal battles, Trump remains a leading candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
