In case you don't know, "Sandy Eggo" is slang for San Diego, CA. I used to live in northern San Diego county in the 1970's and even joined the Sheriff's Explorers for a year or two in about 1975-6. We gave 'em over then.
But the seventy's were a different time. That involvement in the Sheriff's Explorer Program with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department included being a ride-a-long several times and we didn't hesitate to call the Border Patrol, and turn them over.
Looks like San Diego county has gone the other way now and is joining the illegal alien protection folk.
- San Diego has established stricter guidelines for local law enforcement's interaction with federal immigration authorities.
- City officials argue that the measures protect the rights of immigrants.
- Critics claim that the new regulations may hinder cooperation in violent crime cases.
- Supporters believe the policy will foster trust between immigrant communities and law enforcement.
