Ooops, I suppose we're supposed to call them "asylum seekers". You know, the folks that enter illegally down south and get the in-and-out treatment at the border and bussed and flown into the interior by one or another?
You may have heard that the Governor of Texas has bused some of his border crossers on up to New York. At first it did cause quite a stir up in them parts, but it looks like their Governor has 'found' a way to help them out. Doesn't that make you feel great? Barf! Take your blood pressure meds first. I suppose somebody thought putting the word 'eligible' in the headline to fool somebody. I'm not. They're all eligible until caught later according to current enforcement policy.
Convince me I'm wrong.
- New York Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that the state Labor Department has found 18,000 jobs for eligible asylum seekers in various sectors including accommodation, healthcare, manufacturing, and construction.
- The job opportunities are a result of the state Department of Labor's outreach to employers, connecting work-eligible individuals with jobs to address both the migrant crisis and the workforce shortage in New York. Hochul believes that putting asylum seekers to work will secure a brighter future for all New Yorkers.
- The jobs are specifically available for Venezuelans who have been granted Temporary Protective Status (TPS) and will enable them to leave the shelter system, work legally, and become independent taxpayers.
