U.S. Cuts Funding Of NGO's and Others Affiliated With Hamas

As the D.O.G.E. continues it audits, which is hard to understand why Democrats do not want audits, more wasteful funding was found and stopped.  It's one thing to exercise the first amendment, its another for .gov funds.

Yeah, yeah, still catching up.  This news is a couple weeks old too, especially considering the latest with the Israel/Iran war.

  • On Tuesday, the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions against five individuals and five charitable organizations accused of funneling funds to Hamas and the PFLP under the pretense of humanitarian activities.
  • These sanctions follow the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel and address groups exploiting charities to finance terrorist military activities.
  • The sanctioned groups include Al Weam Charitable Society operating out of Gaza, Filistin Vakfi from Turkey, as well as organizations linked to Hamas and PFLP based in Algeria, the Netherlands, and Italy.
  • Deputy Secretary Michael Faulkender highlighted that the measures taken today are crucial to preventing terrorist groups such as Hamas and the PFLP from exploiting charitable organizations for funding their activities.
  • The Treasury plans continued efforts to disrupt Hamas’s financial networks amid challenges posed by legitimate crowdfunding used as fronts for illicit funding.
